Jonah - 6 months old

It's been another month of milestones for Jonah. First solid foods, First professional baseball game (Rockies vs. Mets), First airplane trip (New Hampshire), First family vacation (Steamboat Springs camping trip), First movie (Dazed and Confused, replayed at the Thursday night outdoor film series at New Belgium Brewing Company) and First week at daycare. He's continuing to grow but we won't have stats for you until after the doctor's visit this coming week. This month we also enjoyed more visits from Grandma Crockett and Papa John, Poppy, and Grammy.
The Thinker. After much deliberation, Jonah settles on these first two fingers of his right had as the most tasty of his 10 options. He's also been busy pondering the intracacies of Obama's health care bill, whether or not Brett Farvre looks good in purple, and if he prefers babyfood carrots over sweet potatoes...but then there's that banana/raspberry/peaches blend that's so good too...

Uh-oh is that the Tickle Monster coming to get me?

More happy boy in monkey outfit.
Jonah slept through his first visit to the Atlantic Ocean on our trip to New Hampshire to see Jillana.

Jonah's first day as a Little Bear, 9/8/09. He's a rock star in the infant room - cute, energetic, talkative, and relatively low maintenance. (Relative to the colicky babies in his class, we presume). We've gotten glowing reports over how well Jonah is doing, including a full run-down each day on what his daily activities were, how much and when he ate, when he napped and for how long, when his diaper was changed and what it contained. He greets his teacher with a smile each morning I drop him off. Thankfully he also greets Pat and I with smiles when we pick him up in the afternoon too! If he gets fussy, they just motion to him to suck his two fingers :-).

First Family Vacation

Before we begin, we would like to apologize for our lack of posting in the month of August. We understand that their have been some concerned followers(You know who you are!) losing sleep due to the fact that they don't know what is happening in Jonah's life. We take full responsibility for our actions and we won't let it happen again.

Now, we celebrated Jonah's six month birthday by going camping in Steamboat Springs. We hiked Fish Creek Falls, visited Strawberry Park Hotsprings and ate jars of Sweet Potatoes around the fire. Jonah had a great weekend and was a happy little camper.

Eating sweet potatoes. I can't tell who is happier in this picture.

Hiking at Fish Creek Falls.

Playing in the RV with my good buddy Camden.

Naptime in the stroller.

Cool Jonah sporting his new sunglasses.

Relaxing after a hard day swimming at the springs. Guess which guy picked up more chicks on this day.

Baseball and apple pie, I mean peaches...

Jonah's first baseball game! Last night we cheered the Rockies on to beat the Mets 5-2. You might be asking why he wasn't in a Phillies outfit...well, a little home team spirit for the boy is okay too we guess, and we definitely weren't rooting for the Mets! Jonah was great the whole game; he just sucked on his favorite two fingers, stared at all the lights and took the excitement in for all 3+ hours. Perhaps he was born a baseball fan!

Peaches peaches everywhere.... Mmmm.....

Here's Jonah playing in his new Baby Einstein activity center. He's learning that if he presses the different buttons, they say the name of the animal pictured, make the animal noise, or play music.

Grandma and Grandpa Crockett's visit

We just enjoyed having Grandma and Grandpa Crockett out to visit for a couple weeks. Jonah especially loved having a couple extra playmates around...

Jonah - 5 months old

It's amazing how much happens month-to-month, with month #5 being no exception. Jonah's latest milestones include sitting supported, looking at books, making the "L" sound, and making motorboat sounds with his lips. We started teaching him sign language, beginning with signs essential for baby survival such as "milk", "dirty diaper", "bathtime", and "giraffe". So far it's going swimmingly. We sign like crazy and Jonah stares confusedly back at us. But we think he is starting to understand. Speaking of swimming though, Jonah had a couple swim lessons this month (see post below from last week). When his Poppy was out to visit and he and Pat took Jonah to the pool to dunk him. It wasn't quite like the cover of that Nirvana album, but Jonah has been underwater probably 5 times now and took it much better than his dad did. And his dad took it much better than his mom, who didn't even want to be there to see it (but cheered him on from 15 miles away). But now everybody loves pool time! We're currently enjoying second visits from all the grandparents who are having a blast seeing how much the little guy has grown. Laughing at Grandma singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Knees and Toes..." complete with animated motions. It was so funny, grandma got quite the work out doing it over and over and over...

Tummy time! We're finally having tummy time that doesn't involve screaming. Jonah is rolling over and holding his head up 90 degrees. Whoo-hoo!

We're here to Pump. You. Up.
Ladies, who wants a ticket to the gun show?

Jonah's reaction to finding out that the Phillies traded for Cliff Lee.

Feet are so fun to play with! And tasty too.
